Researchers in Australia have found that women who drink more fizzy drinks throughout their life have more
wrinkles than those who don't. This could be because of the amount of sugar they contain. Just one average can of
soda has eight teaspoons of sugar. So if you want to reduce a tell tale age sign - wrinkles -then cut out the cans
of soda. Try to cut out smoking too it’s not only bad for your health it’s not good for your skin and can age you
before your time.
Stop Gray Hairs
It is true to say that hair can turn gray at any time in your life but people always associate
it with old age. When you hair starts turning gray it is related to your genetic makeup. However, your diet can
also play a part. Recent studies have found that people who have a zinc deficiency are prone to their hair turning
gray earlier and also thinning. To keep your hair its natural colour for longer you should eat foods that contain
plenty of zinc, such as shellfish.
Easy Breathing
Did you know that your breathing volume declines by 27 per cent every decade of your life? Nearly all of us do
not use our lungs to their full potential. If you can increase your breathing volume you can live longer. However,
as we age the lungs stiffen, reducing the amount you can breathe in. To help stop these happenings eat more tomato
and apples (or tomatoes and apple based foods). This will help to keep the lungs more supple.
Follow the Right Exercise Regime for Your Age
Just to finish up on these essential eating tips to keep you young we should mention exercise, because whatever
your age it's important that you do some form of exercise to keep you fit and healthy. And it is never too late to
start exercising. Here's a quick run down of what to do, depending on your age.
If you're in your twenties your metabolism (rate which your body burns calories) is at its peak.
This doesn't mean you don't need to exercise though, as your metabolism will slow down. Do high intensity
cardiovascular exercise three times a week. For example: running or cycling.
If you're in your thirties you need to keep good muscle tone as muscle burns most calories. So
do exercises which use as many muscles as possible. We advise for cardiovascular exercises such as running or
cycling for 30 minutes three times a week, then increasing up to 45 minutes.
If you're in your forties or over and haven't done much exercise in the past you need to take
things a little easier and gradually build up. You need to exercise the whole of your body. Try running on a
treadmill or cycling on an exercise bike for about 15-30 minutes, three times a week.
